What Is Faceless?
Faceless isn't defined by one job. His value comes from versatility and timing. Depending on the battle, he can control, displace, debuff, protect the team from magical pressure or copy a decisive Skill.
Faceless becomes much easier to understand when his kit is reduced to its fundamental jobs. He can copy, displace, control, debuff and protect. The value of those mechanics changes depending on the Heroes around him and, especially, on the timing of Doppelganger.
Faceless' Skill Kit.
Faceless' greatest strength is not necessarily his own Ultimate. Sometimes, the strongest weapon on the battlefield belongs to someone else.
Doppelganger
Faceless transforms into the ally or enemy who most recently activated their first Skill and then uses that Skill himself.
The copied Skill is increased to Level 240.
Faceless is not restricted to reproducing one kind of effect. What he provides depends entirely on the Skill he copies.
He can reproduce defensive effects such as Julius' shields and, with the correct copied Skill, can even reproduce resurrection mechanics from Heroes such as Kayla or Aidan.
Power Throw
Faceless lifts the nearest enemy into the air and drops that Hero into the center of the opposing team.
The impact deals damage and stuns enemies in the affected area. Its power scales with Faceless' Magic Attack, while the Stun becomes less likely to succeed if the target's level is above 120.
The key mechanic is positioning. Power Throw removes the nearest Hero from their normal position and throws them deeper into their own formation, potentially exposing Heroes that were protected behind the frontline.
Chain Lightning
Faceless launches a magical projectile that ricochets between three enemies.
It deals damage while reducing the targets' Physical Attack by 1,800 for four seconds.
The Skill scales with Faceless' Magic Attack and allows him to weaken three targets simultaneously, giving the team another defensive tool against physical pressure.
Spell Expert
Faceless increases the entire team's Magic Defense by 3,000.
Because this passive depends only on its level, Faceless provides this defensive value without needing another activation.
Against magic-heavy compositions, that additional Magic Defense can help the entire team survive.
Skins & Glyphs.
Faceless needs to survive long enough to control the battle and reach the right Doppelganger timing. That is why Health comes first.
Skin Priority
-
Health
First priority for survivability and control uptime. -
Magic Attack
Strengthens Power Throw and Chain Lightning. -
Intelligence
Supports his magical development while also adding some Magic Defense. -
Magic Penetration
Helps his magical damage bypass enemy Magic Defense. -
Magic Defense
Further improves survivability against magical pressure. -
Magical Critical Hit Chance
Offensive value, but final priority because Faceless' primary responsibility remains control.
Glyph Priority
- Health
- Magic Attack
- Intelligence
- Magic Penetration
- Physical Attack
Artifact Priority.
Faceless' development begins with the Artifact that directly supplies two of his most important offensive stats: Magic Attack and Magic Penetration.
Artifact Book
Provides Magic Penetration and Magic Attack. Both directly support Power Throw and Chain Lightning.
Artifact Ring
Provides Intelligence, further strengthening Faceless' overall development and complementing the Book.
Artifact Weapon
Activating Doppelganger provides the entire team with a Magic Penetration bonus. Valuable for magic-oriented compositions, but third when prioritizing Faceless' individual development.
No Compromise Here.
Faceless operates from the backline, but that does not make him untouchable. He needs solid fundamental stats to survive long enough to control the battle and execute Doppelganger at the right moment.
Two Different Development Paths.
Faceless currently has two Talismans. Both are useful, but they strengthen different parts of his build.
Intelligence + Health
This combination fits Faceless' core development philosophy extremely well. Health helps keep him alive while Intelligence strengthens his overall development.
Armor + Magic Attack
Armor provides additional physical resistance while Magic Attack directly strengthens the Skills in Faceless' kit that scale with that stat.
Heroes That Work With Faceless.
Faceless can perform several jobs, which allows him to create very different interactions depending on the Heroes around him.
K'arkh
One of Faceless' classic interactions. Power Throw knocks an enemy into the air, creating exactly the type of opportunity K'arkh can exploit.
Iris
Chain Lightning applies a negative effect by reducing Physical Attack, creating another opportunity for Iris to take advantage of debuffed enemies.
Electra
Spell Expert increases the team's Magic Defense. That additional Magic Defense can also strengthen Electra's shell.
How Can Faceless Be Disrupted?
Faceless wants time and control over the flow of the battle. These Heroes provide different ways of interfering with that plan.
Soleil
Soleil's Halo can cause Faceless' Stun to turn against him, while repeated control effects can create additional opportunities for Soleil to punish him.
Iris
Chain Lightning applies a debuff, and that negative effect can make Faceless an interesting target for Iris.
Cornelius
Faceless is Intelligence-based. If his Intelligence becomes sufficiently high while his Armor remains vulnerable, Cornelius can become extremely dangerous against him.
Somna
Somna can create control problems for Faceless when her mechanics are triggered, disrupting a Hero whose own game plan depends heavily on control.
Lian
Lian provides another route for creating control problems for Faceless when her mechanics are triggered.
The Danger of Doppelganger.
Faceless doesn't have one single mechanic that defines everything he does. Sometimes he controls. Sometimes he weakens physical attackers. Sometimes he increases the team's resistance against magic.
He can set up K'arkh, support an Electra structure, interact with Iris, or simply copy one of the most important first Skills on the battlefield.
That is what makes Doppelganger dangerous: the strongest Faceless activation isn't always determined by Faceless. Sometimes, the enemy brings the weapon for him.
